Between the ultra run and this, both past seasons… ultra run is better overall. Grippier, more comfy and easier to put on. Now that I have to retire the ultra run, I wore this one and realise a few cons. 1. The tongue is smaller. It doesn’t cover both sides of the islets at the mouth of the shoe. They trimmed it to save material and so the shorter tongue makes it less comfy and also harder to slip on (I have to untie the lace, pull the tongue and adjust it as it’s much smaller 2. The tab at the “heel” end in the ultra run is much missed! Didn’t realise I liked it so much and it made wearing the shoe quick and fuss free. This one doesn’t have it. 3. The thread is less gripper on trail. I think the traction was better in ultra run 4. Ultra run had reflective design and lace, which I also miss in this shoe Overall might buy then new version if it’s on deep discount and I cannot find a reasonable trail running shoe.
