Explorer Cargo Pants

I so badly want to give SB explorer pants a shot, in any style, as they’re comfy and chic and ideal for travel. But I have the same problem with every pair I try on: the crotch bunches like crazy! There’s so much extra fabric there, so it never sits right on me and looks ridiculous. As a US size 12 with hips and a bum, the large size fits my legs but the crotch is too big; a medium fits better in that area but is snugger in the legs and waistband than what I’d want for a long haul flight. I don’t think I have particularly weird proportions (if anything I’d think the extra fabric would be good for my hips?) but these make me look like a 90s gym teacher and I can’t justify the high price. Also, for anyone comparing the regular style with this cargo style: these run bigger and baggier throughout, so you can definitely size down. SB recommended a XL for me, they barely stayed up. The L was plenty big. And also longer than the standard 25” regular, I think these are 27”. Also, if debating between these and the insulated “winter” version, the winters aren’t significantly different - a bit stiffer and more structured, that’s it. The regular fabric moves with you a bit more but is thick enough to hide cellulite, if you’re concerned. I prefer the winters slightly for everyday wear, but for travel, flights, etc. the regulars would be my first choice.
