Kids' Wind & Water Resistant Fleece Lined Puffer Jacket

I ordered a size 8 for my 8-year old son who is 50" tall and 60 lbs. He wears an 8 in Carters and Small in Nike. This coat was too small for him. It was hard to zip and he said he felt uncomfortable. I compared it to his size 7 Eddie Bauer coat from last year and the EB coat was larger. So just size up. The material feels very nice and I liked the soft lining, and elastic cuffs. While not the puffiest jacket, it's puffier than his Patagonia coats. He hates wearing a coat so he probably would refuse this one even if I got the bigger size. It's better for cooler weather than we have in the Pacific NW where Winter is in the 50s with only a small number of cooler days. I would like an adult version of it for me because it's so soft and cozy and is water resistant.
