Bonnard realized that he had a tendency to sacrifice form for color, so from 1915 to the late 1920 s he painted with a new focus of structure without losing his strong color value. The Port of Saint-Tropez was painted in 1921, with this new focus for the form and structure of his subject. Today the original is currently in a private collection.
