if you know and wear Donald Pliner shoes (and I have a dozen pairs) don't waste your time with these cheap imitations with a rubber sole and heal along with cheap uppers-really cheap feeling and looking

I was hunting high and low for a pair of suede loafers in a neutral color with a square vertical. Not drivers, not a round toe (and by round, I'm referring to the vertical, not the horizontal - I'm probably using the wrong terminology...) I found some at crazy prices, but as these are meant to be a summer casual shoe, I didn't want to spend a ton. I found these and rolled the dice - so glad I did. The suede is beautiful, the fit is spot on for sockless wearing, and they are actually comfortable. Two things - first, the description is DARK taupe, but these are more medium. The picture looks more brown. In any case, a great neutral color. Second, I found the soles to be unreasonably slippery out of the box. A $5 pair of stick-on rubber treads provided an easy solution. So are the soles plastic? Yeah, pretty much - as a previous reviewer mentioned. Would I buy them again? Yup. Because for the price, they're exactly what I wanted.
