AMAZING BOOT. Get it!
Don't pay attention to the reviewer who found the Almond color impossible to match with things. It's a perfectly great midrange taupe--slight grey undertones, pretty close to the photo. About as neutral as it can get.
I got the Chianti, too, which is almost a brown with a purple undertone. Not what you'd expect from something called "Chianti." Not too wine-y.
For a big platform, it's very lightweight. I wear 7.5 Wide, and found the 7 to be more comfortable than the 8. A bit narrow, but I expect it'll give over time. If you put pillow or orthotic insoles in your boots and/or wear thick socks, then get the 8.
Heck of a great deal for very versatile boot. Love the side zip. I'm 5'6" so the boot doesn't look stompy or klunky on me. If you're a platform girlie, go for it! Love having a super-cute waterproof boot that is nice-looking enough to wear in all weather.

SAD BUT TRUE:(
I love the look of this boot & bought it for a trip to Europe looking for walking comfort & waterproof. Seems pretty comfortable but sadly had to return as my foot shifts forward uncomfortably towards the toe. I tried inserts but nothing worked:(

leather quality is lower than prior cougar boots
I’ve bought a version of this Cougar Villa boot three times before, and the leather was far superior to what they’re using now. These used to be my favorite boots which is why I kept rebuying.
The current “leather” feels plastic-y and has a thick plastic coating over whatever leather this is. I am sad to see how poorly the current product is made when compared to my old Cougar boots. The sole seems the same, it’s just the upper that has changed.
