Spire Mary Jane Flat (Women)

These do look like quality shoes, but they’re so uncomfortable , unfortunately. They’re about two sizes too small and very narrow. There’s no support, and the heel area is like a piece of cardboard with a small amount of leather, which digs in to your heel. Also, the foot bed is made out of cloth, not leather kind of like espadrilles. I bought these online, tried them on in the parking lot and brought them right back in.

I'm between a 38 and 39 (more like an 8/8.5) but the 9 fit perfectly and gave me room for tights in Winter. Rule of thumb is never to buy a pair of shoes that is too tight or pinches (I did that with a pair of Christian Dior heels decades ago) . Luckily I was able to compare sizes in-store and, as I suspected, this shoe ran small, so the half up was perfect. (See photo in Santa Monica. I really liked the design of this shoe but the sole is made up of a cloth/fabric that is heavily stitched so it was a little rough on the soles of my feet. An odd choice for the lining of the shoe in my opinion and I was afraid all the seaming would start to irritate my foot after wearing them for any length of time. I'm not sure if it would absorb smells over time either. Unfortunate because the shoe design is spot on.

These shoes run short. I have narrow feet and usually wear a 9.5N or a 40. I had to order a 41 in this brand. The shoes are beautiful and do have a small level of arch support. They compliment my Jaxon tote by Brighton. They were worth the wait to reorder in the correct size. Highly recommend
