Jacer Slingback Pump (Women)

These are lovely shoes. In fact, I bought them online in two colors. They come with a sturdy block heel that manages to look sleek and feminine. Typically, shoes that start out as low heeled in small sizes become high heels by the time they’re produced in a 10 or 11; these are no exception. The reported 1.5” heel comes in at 2.25” on the size 11. Except for athletic and a couple of shoes with textile uppers, I only ever purchase genuine full grain leather. They typically cost more but can last decades. I’m disappointed in Franco Sarto this time. Their shoes are always a good fit for my narrow heel while the forefoot fits my medium width very well. I have almost a dozen leather pairs in this brand which I’ve taken care of, many of them having been acquired over twenty ago. But this shoe with its product description saying it has a leather upper will never last that long. They are made with only the thin top grain leather adhered to fake, polyurethane (PU) leather on the underside. One scrape on the toe and you’ll be down to the PU. The strap that makes up the slingback looks very cheap. The leather is incredibly thin and the PU backing looks very cheap and thin. I don’t think it will be long before the part of the strap where the holes are will snap in two; it’s just not thick enough to last. I hope the quality, or lack of, is apparent in the photos. This was a fail, Franco Sarto. I’ve needed to replace my higher heeled dress shoes and have been looking for something low that isn’t a pump or flat. I may have considered keeping these even though the heel is higher than I need because they are so nice looking, but I refuse to purchase PU shoes because they will fall apart. Even if I parked these shoes in my closet after wearing a few times, the PU would eventually break down to a peeling mess, making the shoes completely unwearable. To label these as having a leather upper is false advertising. Buyer beware.
